How to Print QR Codes Perfectly
Avoid blurry scans, glare reflections, and sizing mistakes. Everything you need to know before hitting “Print”.
Print-Ready Quality Checklist
Follow these simple steps for razor-sharp physical scans
In your printer dialog, ensure “Scale” is set to 100% or Actual Size. Avoid “Fit to printable area” which shrinks millimeter dimensions.
Use 250 to 350 gsm heavy matte cardstock for table tents and acrylic counter stands. Avoid high-gloss laminates that cause camera reflections.
Our Multi-Up export automatically draws faint cut-marks at the corners. Use an exacto blade and metal ruler for perfectly crisp edges.
1The “100% Scale” Golden Rule
When opening a PDF generated by QRCraft in Adobe Acrobat, Apple Preview, or your web browser, the print dialog often defaults to “Fit to Paper” or “Shrink oversized pages”. This scales down the millimeter dimensions by 4% to 8%, causing your card to become loose inside standard acrylic tabletop holders. Always choose “Actual Size” or 100%.
2Paper Thickness: Why GSM Matters
Too thin. Easily wrinkles, absorbs moisture from coffee tables, and curls inside acrylic frames.
Good for wall posters and bulletin boards, but still slightly flexible for self-standing cards.
Recommended. Feels premium, stands rigid in table tents, and withstands repeated handling.
3Matte vs. Gloss Finish
Never use high-gloss lamination over QR codes placed under direct restaurant spotlights or sunlight. Glare and reflections blind smartphone camera lenses. Choose Matte or Satin finishes for smooth, instantaneous scans from any angle.
